10am - 4 pm,
Workshops are run by Cookwise, but are held in the Food Tech room at Wells Cathedral school.
Groups for daily workshops are small, (max 12) to allow students to get the help they need.
Age 8 - 15
The day is spilt into 2 sessions.
- In the morning students cook dishes for lunch, sometimes for themselves, and sometimes dishes to share. With an older age group of students there will sometimes be the opportunity to adapt or devise recipes of their own.
- Lunch time is a chance to socialise and to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
- After lunch students cook their 2 course meal to take home; all their own work.
Recipes are chosen to suit the age group and the time they have. Also, food in season and local food is chosen where possible. Students cook a 2 course meal for 3 (extra portions can be cooked if requested - £3 per extra portion to cover ingredients).
Each day is a complete unit, so students can come for 1 day or lots of days; recipes change daily. Students also take home a recipe folder and laminated recipe cards for the dishes cooked.
Examples of dishes cooked might be Somerset Pork, Tandoori Chicken, Pilau Rice, Risotto, Summer Fruits Meringues, Oaty Fruit Crumble, Strawberry Roundabouts.
